Whether you're carving through snow or chasing the midnight sun, Alaska is your playground, and we’re here to help you make the most of it.

FAT BIKE RENTAL

  • Backcountry Bike & Ski offers fat tire bikes for rent during the winter riding season.

    Current Fleet: Trek Farley 5
    Sizes Available: XS, S, M, L & XL (Sizing done on-site)
    Rental Fee:     $60/day or $285/week
    Reservations: Available seasonally, typically October through March. Reservations highly recommended. Call 907-746-5018.

    • A freshly tuned bike

    • Studded tires in the winter

    • Pogies are included for winter comfort

full suspension mountain bike rental

  • Full-suspension mountain bikes like our Kona Process 134’s are fantastic for riding the trails throughout the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Capable, fun and fast, these bikes can handle everything from Crevasse Moraine to 16 Mile and everything in between.

    Sizes Available: Adult S, M, L & XL (Sizing done on-site)
    Rental Fee:     $90 for the first day / $80 each additional day

NORDIC SKI RENTAL (CLASSIC OR SKATE)

  • Backcountry Bike & Ski offers daily and weekly rentals for classic cross country or skate ski packages that include waxless skis, boots and poles. 

    Rental Fee: $30 for the first day + $15 each additional day (or $80 for a weekly package)
    Reservations: Available seasonally, typically October through March. Reservations highly recommended. Call 907-746-5018.

    • Either Rossignol Evo XT 60 Waxless Classic Skis or  Rossignol Delta Sport Skate Skis

    • Rossignol X-R,  or X-1 Jr Boot (Sizing done on-site)

ALTAI HOK SKI RENTAL

  • Altai Hok Trek Skis are designed with the dream of making snowshoes more efficient. They are a shortened wide ski with an integrated skin built into the base. Paired with a universal boot binding, they handle a variety of terrain with ease. The skis come in two size options: The 145 cm skis are ideal for larger people and/or terrain with deep snow, as they provide more flotation in powder. The 125 cm skis are ideal for smaller people and/or terrain where tight navigation is required. Both have a metal edge.

    Rental Fee: Daily $30 | Weekly $90

SNOWSHOE RENTAL

  • We rent adult snowshoes, big and small. Take your adventure off the trail and into the backcountry!

    Rental Fee: $10 per day
    Reservations: Available seasonally, typically October through March. Reservations highly recommended. Call 907-746-5018.

mat su junior nordic boot rental

  • We support our local ski club’s popular Mat Su Junior Nordic Program by offering season-long boot rentals for Mat Su Junior Nordic Skiers. Boot rental is $40 from November to April and is coordinated through the Junior Nordic Ski program. Please contact us for more information.

RENTAL TERMS

RENTAL PERIOD: 24hrs from when the equipment leaves the shop, with the exception of Saturday rentals. Unless the reservation is a multi-day rental, equipment rented on Saturdays must be returned by 5:45 pm that same day due to our shop being closed on Sundays and Mondays.

CONDITION: Rental equipment should be returned in clean, serviceable condition.

PAYMENTS: Full rental payment is required at time of pickup.

CANCELLATIONS: No charge within 48 hours, 50% of rental fee within 24 hours, and the full rental fee will be charged if cancelled within less than 24 hours.
